I felt strong today. I'm back at 3000 feet of altitude and I ran 10 miles over some pretty sketchy areas, more hills and dirt than Seattle and I still maintained a 7:35 average over 10 miles. Spent a mile trying to catch some guy i saw running ahead of me, caught up to him and he asked to run with me. Really nice guy, he did the Xtrerra in Hawaii and some stuff around Washington. We ran a mile in about 6:59 and then he split to head home. I wanted to run another 10 tonight, and I could have but a nap ended my bid to get out before the fading light. I am going to be very fit for my spring races, especially once I break into 50,70 and just for fun 100 miles a week.

felt really stiff, laggy the first 4 miles in my lower legs/achiles. when i got to about 6 I started feeling much better. I have a little cold and i can feel it in the back of my throat and my body so that was also there. Then there was the unexpected trip to narnia at a starbucks in downtown Seattle for a few minutes. Not ideal haha. However,  The last mile and a half i felt amazing and it was all clicking really well.

7:35 average not counting side trip

Started out feeling strong. (I note this because in past months of training the first few minutes I have felt sluggish or tired exc sometimes)

A train interrupted my first mile, to quote Ariadne " This wasn't in the design"  ANYways, felt good through even like 7 miles. Kept about 7:15 pace. had some good miles but my knees kinda started aching and I could kinda feel my form start to get a little shaky. I ended up probably trying a little to hard to hold onto sub 7:20 pace the last couple miles. 8-9.5 were something like 7:45 each. I need to probably start wearing the kayanos more in training than the trainers.

pretty sore and pretty slow. it was slower but not a lot of effort, which means I feel like i'm running the "easy" miles that I should be to build my base.

The weather in Seattle finally came back with a vengeance. I suffered the worst shin splints of my life this morning pretty much right away. I had to call it in the morning and get in the rest of my milage at night. Sasha says its okay if you sometimes split up 10 mile aerobic building runs... so I don't feel too bad, STILL I don't run as fast on the treadmill and I kind of feel like its cheating even though I put it on 1% incline.

AM: 2.75 7:40 pace

PM: 7.25 8:10 pace

shin splints: I should look into compression socks? dynamic stretching? I feel like its a combo of the 5 hour drive to Seattle and the milage of late.

AM: 4 miles on the treadmill, 8:00 pace, felt okay.

PM: 6 miles on treadmill. 8:15 pace, 6:40 last mile. I can feel my strength, as soon as I can get my speed up things should really be in place.

3-4 more months then into uncharted territory of sub 3 hour marathons and never never land

10- "easy" on treadmill.

The treadmill never got used since yesterday, so my 10 miles from then were still on it. The calorie counter ( inaccurate) went to 999 and re set three times in two days haha, and the clock went to 90:00 and rolled back to zero again. I beat the treadmill, or at least this sketchy hotel one haha

How i got up for this workout before 6 AM is beyond me.

I seriously hope Shalane Flanagan does not take back the 5k AR from Molly Huddle. Shalane is a like a skeleton with an epic v02 max. meh.  Molly is unassuming, real and gutsy.

I'm so stoked to see Chris Solinsky  destroy this year.

PM: 10 easy on treadmill due to blizzard attack in Spokane.

With my strength right now, I am fairly confident I can run 1:26 next saturday if the day is good and 1:28 if it's bad. That is the hope and the plan. we shall see.
